  Brins Is Merciful (Challenge/Essay)

You're really pushing me, friends, as regards the challenge. No entries! And only one day to go!!
You leave me no option but to make you a deal you can't refuse:

I'm going to extend the deadline to the end of the week.

Now you have no excuses not to enter!

What is the challenge? See the post below or check 'Dr. Wily's Revenge' under the Challenge section.

In other news, our good recipient Air recently raised an interesting point regarding Megaman:

How in the blue blazes did he get to eight games?

To satisfy Air's curiosity, Megaman didn't. He got to 35.
Then along came Megaman X. He made 16 (along with Zero).
But let's not forget Megaman Legends. That got to 5.
And, last but not least, there's Megaman Battle Network. That made it up to 10.

To be fair, some of the games mentioned are doubles between series. Still, frightening, eh? That's without mentioning that fact that the games are still being made.

66 games? Clearly the Blue Bomber must have struck a chord somewhere.
To this day, it baffles me why Dr. Wily didn't just have all his robots ambush Megaman when his back was turned. Or why Megaman didn't just teleport straight to the good(bad?) doctor in the first place. And for that matter, why doesn't Dr. Light just create a bunch of robots to counter Wily's? Why doesn't the army just blow up Wily's lab? Are Megaman and Dr. Light the only ones who really seem to care about him trying to take over the world?

So many questions, so few answers. You'd think Wily would just get fed up and go home. Or Sigma and X would settle their differences and be friends. You'd think... therefore you would.

But hey, someone's got to fight for everlasting peace.

Update: For more Megaman-related meaninglessness, you might like to frequent the following:

1)Bob and George
2)Capcom
3)Planet Megaman

  Challenge Revival

Having seen the critical acclaim Rob's challenges seem to have acquired, I am tempted to start one of my own again. Hopefully I can have the same luck as Rob (and who knows, maybe God will feel obliged to have a crack at mine as well).

However, my challenges aren't going to be about films. I prefer something a bit more interactive. So, here goes:

To take part, Email me a sound clip of yourself saying:

'However, I don't have time to deal with you!' in as similar a fashion to Dr. Wily as you can.

If there are multiple entries, I shall discuss with Rob which is best and declare a winner; if there is only one entry, they win by default; otherwise, no-one wins (since no-one enters).

Why bother? Well, give me your name and you'll be the first on the prestigious hall of fame (right)... BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!

If the winner sends me their email address, I will email them the first chapter of my epic novel, The Cave! And if your entry is really good... well, we'll just have to wait and see!

Seriously, that's a good prize. My most satisfying achievement in life lies in the writing of that book. Get this preview before the publishers lap it up!

Now you have no excuses. Send me your sounds!

Closing date: End of February

  How odd

According to the site meter (on the menu to the right, scroll down), the average visitor time on my website is zero seconds. I can only guess you've found a way to transcend space and time.

Which, in all reality, you may well have done.

Now, there's not much more to be said. In response to a complaint of the lack of interactivity on the site, here's some items to keep you amused, all thanks to your friend and mine, 'Megaman 8'

[Please note that having never played the game, I can't comment on the context of the following. My question is: do you really need one?]

1) When I hear this one, for some reason I imagine him (assuming this is Dr. Wily) rocking back and forth on an inflatable clown balloon very slowly, shaking his fist madly at Megaman. I think the freakish circus music in the background only heightens the hilarity of this clip.

2)This one appears to introduce the cream of the crop, Dr. Light, with a very philosophically driven disertation on the nature of evil and whether or not meteors should 'fall into its hands'.

3)There isn't so much to say for this one, but you should listen to it anyway.I only put these here because they had me in fits of laughter yesterday.

Expect to see more things like this from the CICC in due course.

Farewell to Arthur Miller (A Death)

It's taken me a while to update this, but I noticed that Rob put up a dedication to Arthur Miller who sadly died last week. Since we have both been studying (and acting out) scenes from his play, The Crucible, only a week before his death, we are quite surprised and would like to put our sincerest sorrows to his family and friends.

As a tribute, I've taken off the President Bush picture (which really had no reason to be there anyway) and replaced it with one of the (deceased*).

I can't speak much for most of his plays since I've never seen or read them, but I liked The Crucible.

  Rob's Challenge

Ahoy there, mateys. Rob's got a new challenge for this month - if you want a chance of the prize, get over there immediately.

In other news, I notice Rob seems to receive many more comments from a wide variety of people at his site. Now, I'm not saying I'm displeased with any of my regulars or passerbies, but I am curious as to why this is.

I know I've asked you about this in the past, but I would strongly appreciate if you were to comment, sign the guestbook, email me or do anything to inform me as to exactly what you want to see here, what you want changed (anything, just ask, I'm immune to insults) or what you'd like me to talk about.

For now, I had an idea: if anybody would like me to write a post or essay about a topic, let me know what it is. Feel free to bring up something that's relevant to you and I'll give you something interesting about it (or at least try, or forget). That's one way to spice up the site.

In alternate news, the exams are over. That's nice. Enjoy yourselves!

  Exams, Xavier

What a day! The whole morning consecrated to a Physics experiment (don't get me started... you have no idea), then an intense singing bout in the afternoon... followed by more Physics.

I feel so happy, though, as all that time managed to solve the Physics problem (hopefully completely...), and no more singing for at least a month.

I forgot to mention before, the Prelims have officially commenced... on Tuesday.

Keep it up, everyone, let's make it to Thursday, and beyond... the February break!!
